Jim's Danecourt Road Garden

 (Poole's Secret Garden)

Danecourt Road Garden runs just up from the college to the other end at Civic centre.

In 2016 it was just a lane with weeds grass and trees. it was a cut through and a haven for dogs to do their business and little else... Then Jim Gardner (fondly known as the Jim the bee man) asked the Council if he could maintain the lane.

Since then  It has become a labour of love, Jim has put blood sweat and tears into this lane and it has now become a Garden . He has begged for free plants and many people have responded,  he lovingly plants it all, he has a dedicated wild garden, a pond and recently has been given some Purbeck stone so now he has a rockery as well, the plants and flowers encourage so many butterflies and bee's he has slow worms and frogs , it is truly a haven now for the wildlife , he has put bird boxes in the trees and has lots of various birds that nest in them.

Its hard Back breaking work but when the flowers start coming up and out its so worth it .He enters the garden into a  competition with Dorset Wildlife Trust its title is  "The Nature Garden" and this is exactly what Jim has made this lane into. a beautiful Nature Garden.

Take a walk down there , there is always something to look at and if you have any wildlife seeds or plants they are always welcome .Jim takes lots of pictures of the plants and wildlife,  like the beautiful Helebore's above and photos below.
